

The Vaad HaYeshivos (Council of Yeshivas) serves as the central administrative and representative body for Haredi yeshivas in Israel. Its primary function is to coordinate the status of yeshiva students with the government, specifically regarding military service deferments and legal standing.
The Vaad operates under the direct guidance of a directorate of senior rabbinic leaders. Its current primary authority is Rav Dov Landau, the Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka and a leading figure.
Historical Leadership: The organization was founded in 1924 by the Chofetz Chaim at a rabbinical convention in Grodno, Poland.
The Chofetz Chaim: The spiritual founder and "inspirational force" behind the Council. He served as its Executive Director from 1924 until his death in 1933.
Rav Chaim Ozer Grodzinski: A world-renowned posek in Vilna who served as the President of the Board. He was the primary administrator and strategist, leading the organization until 1940
